Yoga to Run: $80/8 weeks
Relieve, Lengthen and Re-Energize your mind and muscles!
“During the course of an average mile run, your foot will strike
the ground 1,000 times, with the force of impact on each foot
being about three to four times your weight. It's not surprising,
then, to hear runners complain of bad backs and knees, tight
hamstrings, and sore feet.” – Excerpt from Yoga Journal
Although they seem to lie on opposite ends of the spectrum, yoga
is the perfect complement to any running program. Yoga allows
runners to address muscular imbalances caused by running due to
repetitive strain on the joints and muscles.
Over the course of this 8 week clinic, we will focus on key areas
for runners including the hips, back, hamstrings, building core
strength and breathing technique. Each one hour class will be a
dynamic, flowing series of yoga poses designed to relieve,
lengthen and re-energize your mind and your muscles! All levels
are welcome.

Your “core” is the link between the
upper and lower body, providing the transfer of energy between the
two halves. Core muscles include abdominals, hip flexors and
rotators, gluteals, shoulder and back muscles.
A stronger core rewards you with so
many great benefits including better posture, better alignment of
muscles which reduces stress on joints, improved
balance/coordination as stabilizers are called on, increased
strength throughout your limbs, and a leaner looking centre.
Core training should accompany your
running program and can be included in all phases of training
whether beginner or elite.
This 8 week clinic will progress from
week to week building from the basics of core conditioning to
introducing many variations and more challenging moves. All levels
are welcome as progressions will build individually.
